Grants up for grabs

Published on 08 October 2018

If you’re looking to get your great community project or initiative off the ground, you could be eligible for a City of Swan grant valued between $5,000 and $25,000.

City of Swan Mayor David Lucas said the City is offering a $50,000 grant pool as part of its 2018/19 Proactive Community Grants program.

“We are looking to fund projects or initiatives, that meet the needs of our community from three strategic focus areas,” he said.

“These focus areas are community safety, social inclusion and sustainable environment, and are all guided by current City of Swan strategic documents.

“From October 15, we’ll be calling for Expressions of Interest (EOI) and eligible organisations, not-for-profits and community groups are encouraged to apply.

“If you think your project might fit the bill, we encourage you to apply through the City’s online Proactive Grants EOI portal before November 8.”

The Proactive Community Grants program is an extension of the City's Swan Community Funding Scheme (SCFS), which aims to build sustainable local communities, and enhance the social wellbeing and development of our communities.

It’s also more flexible - allowing for submissions that might otherwise fall outside of the standard SCFC requirements.

Midland/Guildford Ward Councillor Claire Scanlan said the SCFS strengthens and celebrates the City’s many diverse communities.

“It’s wonderful to see the City giving back to the community, supporting everything from local grass roots initiatives to large-scale community projects,” she said.

“These initiatives are what bring our community together, which is why we are so proud to support them.”
