Dedicated study sessions for Year 12 students

Broken Hill City Library will be converted into a dedicated study space for Year 12 students on two occasions in the coming weeks.

Staff will open the library exclusively for Year 12 student use on October 13 (1pm-4pm) and October 16 (6pm-8pm) outside of normal opening hours.

Council's Library Technician Community Engagement, Fallon Spangler, said the sessions would provide another avenue for students to focus on their studies.

"The lead up to exams can be a stressful time, so we just wanted to create a quiet environment away from school or home where students will have some space to themselves," she said.

"They can study alone, with their peers or tutors, or get some help from representatives from the Far West Country Universities Centre (FWCUC).

"FWCUC tutor and study specialist, Lisa Turner, will be on hand if kids need any assistance, along with some university students."

At 1.30pm during the Saturday session, Ms Turner will also host an Exam Preparation Workshop, covering topics such as revision tips, time management, and material memorisation techniques.

All study sessions are free, computers, Wi-Fi and light snacks will be provided, however bookings are required.
