Moree Plains Shire Council has a range of traineeships and an apprenticeship opportunity that are opening this month, some which are aimed at youth and other opportunities for those wishing to gain new skills or career change.
Human Resources Officer Jessica Johnstone explained Moree Plains Shire Council supports initiatives that create opportunities for young people in our community and our involvement has shown to be a positive influence in the career goals for the students.
“Council offers a number of fantastic career opportunities for youth with school based traineeships, and these programs are an excellent opportunity to help local students develop practical skills and progress towards their chosen career,” said Mrs Johnstone.
There are four School Based Traineeship positions that are currently being advertised and applicants need to indicate which area they wish to apply for from the following – Community Development (Indigenous identified position), Big Sky Libraries (Moree Community Library), the Records (Administration), and Mungindi Pool.
School based traineeships provide students with the opportunity to attain a nationally recognised Vocational Education and Training (VET) qualification in conjunction with their Higher School Certificate (HSC) and gain valuable work skills and experience through paid employment.
Students undertaking school based traineeships gain a VET qualification along with their HSC and work experience.
