Mildura Arts Centre’s foyer series is in full swing this spring with another stunning performance - a captivating cabaret tale about the ‘greatest singer of all time’ Edith Piaf this Thursday.
Created and performed by Michaela Burger (vocals) and Greg Wain (guitar), it showcases Piaf favourites, interlinking each with touching stories of the singer’s life.
Greg Wain has previously performed with British pianist, band-leader, singer and television presenter Jools Holland, as well as on the cabaret circuit and at both Australian and International Jazz festivals.
Described by Australian music icon Kate Ceberano as “an asset to the cabaret community”, Michaela Burger has performed with one of Broadway’s most sophisticated composers, Jason Robert Brown. Other credits include Rumpelstiltskin (Windmill/State Theatre SA), Cranky Bear (Patch), Othello (State Opera SA), Tosca (Co-opera SA) and Humphrey B Bear (Channel 9).
Together as Exposing Edith, Michaela and Greg have been performing to sell-out audiences in Australia and New Zealand and even the renowned Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
Mildura Rural City Councillor Anthony Cirillo said cabaret acts were growing in popularity at Mildura Arts Centre.
“The acts are always of a high calibre and Exposing Edith is no exception,” Cr Cirillo said.
“Audiences will love the specular music and the passionate, emotional and highly entertaining portrayal of Edit Piaf.”
