City’s newest community facility turns one

The City of Swan’s Ethel Warren Bullsbrook Community Facility is celebrating its first birthday on October 19 with a free family event and the creation of a time capsule to commemorate the occasion.

The centre will be open to showcase all of the facilities on offer, along with some fun family activities.

City of Swan Mayor David Lucas said the program of activities would include a StoryWalk for kids, a birthday cake and plenty of celebration.

“There will also be a scavenger hunt, virtual reality, art exhibition, Youth Centre activities and the creation of a time capsule,” he said.

“Event-goers can leave a message in our time capsule by writing down what they like about the centre and preserving these comments in the capsule.

“This is a truly special and memorable way to commemorate the community centre’s first birthday and an indication of how significant the facility is to our users.

“The centre has been a great success since it first opened in July 2017, and I look forward to celebrating this first milestone together with our community.”

The Ethel Warren Bullsbrook Community Centre opened in July 2017 and includes Bullsbrook library, the Bullseye Youth Centre and the City’s Bullsbrook Rural Place Office.

The centre was named after Ethel Warren, one of Bullsbrook’s earliest residents who was a founding member of the Bullsbrook Historical Society, instrumental in setting up the Bullsbrook Museum and a long term staff member at the Bullsbrook Community Kindergarten.
