Bunch 4 Lunch is a monthly City of Ballarat Social Connections program that allows senior residents, particularly those feeling a bit isolated, to make new friends over a casual meal.

Bunch 4 Lunch is currently held in Buninyong, Learmonth, Miners Rest, Cardigan Village, Wendouree and Sebastopol on a regular basis.

This Wednesday, Ballarat’s Biggest Bunch 4 Lunch will be held as part of the 2018 Seniors Week.

About 100 senior residents will enjoy a two-course meal and a catch-up with old and new acquaintances from across the entire municipality.

City of Ballarat Community Development Director Neville Ivey said the Social Connections programs, including Bunch 4 Lunch, were aimed at breaking down isolation barriers for senior residents and ensuring they stayed engaged with their community.

“Bunch 4 Lunch is a fantastic way for senior residents to catch up on a regular basis, have a nice meal and a chat and, if they are feeling particularly isolated or are new to their area, meet new people at an age where they can feel quite vulnerable socially,” Mr Ivey said.

“Ballarat’s Biggest Bunch 4 Lunch will be a great way to bring together a lot of our senior residents to celebrate Seniors Week ahead of the great activities we have planned.”

Bunch 4 Lunch is held:

Buninyong, 1st Wednesday of the month, Pig and Goose Café Learmonth, 3rd Wednesday of the month, Stag Hotel Miners Rest, 3rd Thursday of the month, Miners Rest Tavern (Ballarat Specialist School, 15 November) Cardigan Village, last Friday of the month, North Britain Hotel Wendouree, 2nd Tuesday of the month, Ballarat Minerdome Sebastopol, 4th Tuesday of the month, Formosa Nursery
