Free electronica music workshops, games, virtual reality graffiti and fantasy make-up will all be offered at the Imagineers Place event at Fuller Place on Friday 12 October.
There will also be competitions and giveaways between 3.30 to 6pm, culminating with the premier screening at 6pm of the movie ‘The House with a Clock in its Walls.’
Western Downs Regional Council Councillor Kaye Maguire said that the electronica/pop duo noti. will provide an excellent addition to the afternoon’s activities.
“noti. will be offering a blend of live performance, workshops and experiential activity, with participants given the opportunity to take the controls and create their own live music,” Cr Maguire said.
“Virtual Reality Graffiti is a 3-D paintbrush program where the participant holds a virtual paintbrush in their hand and free draws into the air.
“The artist wears a headset and can move around in the 2m x 2m space, creating a whole 3-dimensional scene around them.
“Others can view the emerging creation of the person that is using the program via a monitor.”
Sami Bender from Chinchilla will be providing fantasy makeup at the event.
“I studied makeup after I finished school, my preference is for special effects makeup such as monsters and injuries as it’s more creative,” Ms Bender said.
“For Imagineers Place I’m looking at galaxy themes with 3-D swirls, I will have some examples for people to choose from, or I can create something unique in around ten minutes.”
Drinks and snacks including popcorn, fairy floss and snow cones will be for sale with proceeds going to the Chinchilla State School’s Project Club.
Imagineers Place is part of the Western Downs Regional Council’s Youth on the Move event series which will take place throughout October and November.
Note that regular cinema pricing applies for the movie screening.
