The City of Ballarat welcomes today’s announcement four companies will be expanding their business to the Ballarat West Employment Zone.
Ballarat-based companies Westlab, Milestone Benchtops, Findlay Engineering and Pipecon have all chosen to expand their operations to the region’s biggest investment development project.
Ballarat Mayor Samantha McIntosh said the investment into BWEZ helped to cement Ballarat’s positioning as an innovative manufacturing location.
“An announcement of this magnitude continues to confirm industry confidence in our city, particularly the Ballarat West Employment Zone (BWEZ) – it confirms that our rationale and vision for this precinct are not only sound, they are being delivered,” she said.
“The success of BWEZ has helped generate confidence in the industrial and business sectors; which is reflected in their willingness to invest in Ballarat.”
With an additional 160 jobs generated through the expansion, Cr McIntosh said the investment created a positive workforce of opportunities and strengthened Ballarat’s economy.
“We’re excited to see businesses expanding their iconic brands, which continues to highlight to the world that we are open for business.
“Growth in the Ballarat West Employment Zone delivers on our vision to grow jobs and investment in our region – Its importance to our economy cannot be understated.”
Other BWEZ anchor tenants include Luv-A-Duck, Kane Transport, Broadbent Grain, machinery company Agrimac, treatment table manufacturer Athlegen and brewing firm BROO.
BWEZ is a staged 438-hectare development – a partnership between the City of Ballarat and the Victorian Government - for a range of manufacturing, agribusiness, construction, freight and logistics, and research and development use.
It is unique in regional Victoria in economic land development scale, and will be the region’s engine room for jobs and economic growth over the next 20 years.
