The City of Ballarat’s projects were three of 25 projects funded in regional Victoria.
Quotes attributable to City of Ballarat Mayor Samantha McIntosh:
“There is no time like now to ensure we’re thinking about the future of our city, we welcome this funding assistance to make sure we’re planning and delivering projects the community have told us are important to them,” she said.
“Just take a look at the Bakery Hill Urban Renewal Project, this will be the most significant strategic redevelopment undertaken in this section of the CBD since the installation of Bridge Mall in 1981.
“As a growing city we need to ensure we redevelop this major asset to unlock its full potential.
“On the topic of growth, it’s just as important we strategically assess the next phase of greenfield development to identify future options. One thing we want to do is explore how the Historic Urban Landscape approach can add value to this strategic planning process, that’s where the Streamlining for Growth Program will assist us.
“And finally, continuing on the topic of growth – there is so much potential to stimulate and activate more than 100 hectares of centrally located land on the fringe of Victoria Park through the successful redevelopment of the Latrobe Street Saleyards Precinct Urban Renewal project.
“I’m now looking forward to the next phases of these projects, the community can expect an opportunity to contribute – specifically to the Latrobe Street Saleyards Precinct Urban Renewal project.”
