Fresh grass clippings, when piled around the base of a tree can become acidic and harmful and can also make the tree susceptible to unwanted, disease causing microorganisms.

Acting Mayor, Cr Peter Davis, asked that residents consider how they dispose of their lawn clippings.

“After mowing your lawns, put your clippings in your green organic waste bin,” said Cr Davis.

“Please do not place lawn clippings around the base of the street trees.”
