Special Council Meeting to discuss proposed Kingswood development

11 October 2018

Councillors Hua, Brownlees and Gledhill co-signed a notice, calling on a Special Meeting of Council to be held at 7pm on Wednesday 17 October. The meeting will be held to discuss a proposed Planning Scheme Amendment at Kingswood Golf Course.

Kingston Mayor Cr Steve Staikos said that the meeting will be live-streamed over the internet to ensure interested community members are able to easily view it.

“We received thousands of submissions about this proposed development through our public consultation process and know that there will be a lot of community members who will be interested in watching this discussion,” said Cr Staikos.

“We recommend watching the meeting live online, however limited seating will also be available in the public gallery of the Council Chambers at 1230 Nepean Highway Cheltenham.”

Following the submission of a Planning Scheme Amendment request from the private owners of the golf course site, Kingston Council ran a six-week public consultation campaign in July and August to make sure the community had the chance to provide feedback on the proposal.

Council received more than 8,000 submissions, which is the largest number of submissions on a Planning Scheme Amendment proposal.

The Special Council Meeting to discuss the application for a proposed residential development at Kingswood Golf Course will commence at 7pm on Wednesday 17 October.

It can be live-streamed for free online at: http://stream.kingston.vic.gov.au
