‘Nominating is easy and closes on October 31.
Toowoomba Regional Council (TRC) Australia Day Committee Chair Cr Mike Williams said Council is seeking Australia Day Award nominations for citizens and groups who have made an outstanding contribution to their community.
“If you do know someone that deserves to be recognised for their efforts don’t miss the opportunity to nominate them, Cr Williams said.
“There are two award levels – local and regional. Local Australia Day committees select each local award category winner. They can then forward nominations onto the regional Australia Day committee to be considered for an award.
“Australia Day means different things to everyone. It represents an occasion to come together and reflect on what being an Australian really means.
“It’s a time to think about our past, our rich traditions and how we have grown and evolved. We are a vibrant diverse culture made up of people from all nationalities who have one thing in common ‘we are proud to call Australia our home”, Cr Williams said.
