Located on Bungaree Oval, off Crater Place, the Furry Friends Fun Day is a free family and dog friendly event that features a range of activities including free basic vet checks, a dog agility display, mobile dog wash and grooming as well as a doggy daycare.
Information on the Rockingham Dog Club and animal rescue groups will be available in addition to a sausage sizzle, show bags and pet merchandise. City of Rockingham Mayor, Barry Sammels said residents and their four legged friends will also have the chance to enjoy the off-leash dog exercise area at Bungaree Oval.
“The Furry Friends Fun Day is a great chance for residents to meet fellow dog owners and learn about some of the services and spaces that are available for dogs within the City,” Mayor Sammels said.
“The City’s Rangers and SmartWatch teams will be represented at the event and residents will be able to find out more information about setting up their own dog walking group with help from the City’s Neighbours Unite Program.”
The City of Rockingham has a number of off leash dog exercise areas as well as two enclosed dog parks at Bayview Reserve in Rockingham and Acrasia Reserve in Baldivis.
Ahead of the Furry Friends Fun Day event, Mayor Sammels encouraged residents to take up lifetime registration of their pets.
“Cost effective options are available for both sterilised and unsterilised pets and all lifetime registrations or renewals received by 31 October 2018 will go into a draw to win one of five $100 Pet City vouchers” he said.
Residents attending the Furry Friends Fun Day are asked to be mindful of their pet’s behaviour. Drinking water and disposable dog waste bags will be available on the day. The free basic vet checks are being provided by Warnbro Sound Veterinary Clinic.
