Published on 12 October 2018

Nominations are now open for the 2019 Australia Day Awards providing the Baw Baw Shire community the opportunity to recognise someone who makes them proud.

Nominations can be made in seven categories:

Citizen of the Year Young Citizen of the Year Australia Day Medallion Community Event of the Year Sporting Achievement Award Environmental Achievement Award Cultural Achievement Award

Mayor of Baw Baw Shire Cr Joe Gauci is encouraging the community to nominate individuals and groups who have made a significant contribution to the community.

“Each year Baw Baw Shire Council hosts Australia Day Awards to publicly recognise and honour the achievements of ordinary people and groups doing extraordinary things in our community”, said the Mayor.

“We highly encourage everyone to take a few minutes to nominate a friend, family member, volunteer, community group or event that has made a positive difference to our way of life in Baw Baw Shire.

“Throughout the history of these awards, we’ve seen some truly amazing people and groups recognised for their advocacy, passion, volunteering and dedication. Now is your chance to shine a spotlight on the inspiring people and groups who give so much to our communities throughout the year.”

This year the nominations process has been streamlined and simplified. There is now a short online form that includes space for optional attachments such as reference letters and supporting documents.

Nominations close at 5.00pm on Friday 16 November.
