Ballarat Regional Industries (BRI) will launch its Meals Made Easy recipe cards in a bid to support healthy eating in our community.
The initiative, funded by City of Ballarat’s Engaging Communities Program, is a collaboration between BRI, Ballarat Community Health and Phoenix College.
The project aims to increase people’s use of recipes at home to support healthy eating - whether it’s for people moving out of home or a change in circumstances, such as illness, injury or a relationship breakdown.
Under the initiative, four recipe cards were created during live cooking classes, which tested the capabilities of BRI employees (people with disability) to recreate the recipe, and their reaction to each meal.
The classes were run by volunteers and included a Ballarat Community Health dietitian, who supported the participants through the process.
The recipe cards contain photos, taken by the students at Phoenix College, showing steps to prepare the meal while outlining each step in the process.
The project is one of a number of community-led projects which were delivered in Sebastopol as part of the City of Ballarat’s Engaging Communities Program.
