The new pavilion planned at Dendy Street Beach is primarily for the Brighton Life Saving Club with most of the facility designed to meet the needs of the Club. This includes modern facilities to meet the standards set by Life Saving Victoria.
The proposed building will also provide important, new public amenities for visitors to the beach including a small café with seating for 30-35 patrons inside and 20 to 25 patrons on an outdoor terrace. When not being used by the life saving club, a large meeting room will be available for community use.
The facility has not been designed, or is intended to operate, as a hospitality, function or fine dining venue.
Council has been working towards progressing the construction of the new pavilion however the project has been delayed due to the planning permit being appealed at VCAT.
