Fisher’s Ghost Parade set to twinkle at twilight

The annual Festival of Fisher’s Ghost Street Parade will see Queen Street Campbelltown come alive with colourful lights, music and bursting with energy on Saturday, 3 November.
The Twilight Street Parade will start at 7pm from the corner of Queen and Broughton Streets, and this year there are two themes – ‘Light and Life Under the Sea’ as well as ‘The Legend of Fisher’s Ghost’.
Community groups, businesses, organisations, schools and sporting clubs will ‘swim’ along the parade path and dive ‘Under the Sea’ on creative, colourful and fun floats, wearing their scales and tails, seaweed and coral, eye patches and sailors hats.
Others will channel the festival’s traditional spooky theme when they take on ‘The Legend of Fisher’s Ghost’. Walking entries are welcomed too.
Prize money will be up for grabs for best parade entries across a range of categories, including first and second overall, and best themed sporting team, performance group, wheels and hooves, community organisation or local club, cultural group, school, band, youth band.
Mayor of Campbelltown, Cr George Brticevic, said the parade was always a crowd favourite.
“There’s an old saying ‘Everyone loves a parade’ and that’s especially true here in Campbelltown,” he said.
“The parade is a great celebration of the many local groups in Campbelltown and it’s always great to see the creativity on show each year”.
“Last year we moved the parade time to the twilight position, and it proved to be a success, so this year we are excited to host it at the same time”.
“The great thing about the time of 7pm is that it adds to the ghostly atmosphere and allows the community to showcase their creativity with the addition of lights in their parade entries. It has also enabled us to include a new parade entry prize category, Best use of lighting.
“We have also moved Fisher’s Flicks to be in Koshigaya Park at the conclusion of the Parade, so it’s a great opportunity to enjoy the parade and then enjoy Ghostbusters in Koshigaya Park from 9.15pm.”
