Call for nominations for 2019 Australia Day awards

Do you know of a local person or a group who have made an outstanding contribution to their community?

Help them gain the recognition they deserve by nominating them for the 2019 City of Wollongong Australia Day Awards.

“Wollongong is a wonderful city with many energetic and selfless people who contribute to civic life every day,’’ said Wollongong City Lord Mayor Councillor Gordon Bradbery AM. “The Australia Day Awards recognises and celebrates community members and organisations that have made a positive impact on their communities. “I encourage you to nominate a friend, a work colleague or member of a community organisation in the 2019 Australia Day awards.

“Previous winners have come from all walks of life and include a Scout leader, doctor, jazz musician, a surf boat crew and people helping the homeless. The things they have in common is passion and dedication. If that sounds like someone you know, go online and nominate them.”

Vicki Tiegs, 2018 Australia Day Citizen of the Year and Executive Director at Waples Marketing Group, said: “It’s been a great honour to be Wollongong’s Citizen of the Year. I encourage anyone who knows of an individual who deserves recognition for their contribution to our City, in whatever field it is, to nominate them for an Australia Day Award.  Most people don’t ask for recognition for what they do, it takes others to make that recognition happen.”
