Residents of Goongerah, Bendoc, Tubbut, Bonang, Cabanadra, Deddick Valley, Haydens Bog, Delegate River, Dellicknora and surrounds are invited to get involved in updating their five-year Community District Plan 2019–24 with East Gippsland Shire Council.
Council is working in partnership with the communities of the Mountain Rivers (Errinundra to Snowy) Districts along with key agencies.
East Gippsland Shire Council Director Community Strategy Kate Nelson said The One Place One Plan project was a different way of working together to plan and make decisions as a district.
“There were a number of achievements from the Mountain Rivers Community Plan 2012–17 and that will be built on for the next plan,” Ms Nelson said.
“Council has been working with members of the district to understand how the communities across the district work, live, play and connect. The first phase was undertaken in August at a well-attended asset mapping workshop, which identified the environmental, built, cultural, social, human and economic assets of the district. The next phase is a survey of residents and landowners and a reaffirmation of the vision, values and goals for the district’s community plan.”
Council’s community planning team will be attending the Big Bonang Arvo on October 31 and holding a workshop in Bendoc on November 1.
“Both events will be an opportunity to discuss who lives in the community and the assets that make up the district across the six themes: environmental, built, cultural, social, human and economic,” Ms Nelson said.
“The team will be asking community members to participate in the survey and activities to reaffirm the community vision and values from the previous community planning activities in 2012 and 2017. This will provide the basis for a series of workshops to inform the future Mountain Rivers (Errinundra to Snowy) District Community Plan.”
Registrations to attend the Bendoc event can be made by contacting Council on (03) 5153 9500 and asking to speak to Eleni McIlroy or online via the Your Say East Gippsland website.
The project is funded by the Australian Government, Department of Infrastructure and Regional Development Building Better Regions Fund Community Investment Stream and is being trialed in Cann River District, Mountain Rivers (Errinundra to Snowy) District and Twin Rivers District.
