Sustainability Champions

Everyone is a winner when it comes to sustainability projects!

It doesn't matter if your project is big or small, it's really about spreading the word and inspiring others to get involved.

We like to promote recognition of North Sydney sustainability champions who live, work or study in North Sydney.

We open nominations in November each year, then our champs are recognised at the annual Volunteers Dinner in December at the North Sydney Oval Function Centre.

2017 Sustainability Champions

Stephen Jacobs for his ongoing commitment and work as a member of the Coal Loader Community Garden. Barring illness and holidays, Stephen has not missed a scheduled day at the community garden in eight years. Annemie Pelletier for establishing a local branch of Boomerang Bags: a grassroots, community driven movement that meets each Wednesday in North Sydney (10am-1pm) to sew bags made from recycled materials. Neutral Bay Uniting for converting vacant land into a lush community garden. Regulars and new visitors alike are welcome for it is now a social space for those seeking inspiration in times of depression, illness or unemployment. The Love Crows Nest Herb Garden opened in late 2016, when a semi-neglected garden bed was transformed into a visually and aromatically pleasing community herb garden in the heart of Crows Nest.

Please email [email protected] if you have any questions or would like to discuss your nomination further.
