Campaspe Shire Council has received the 2017 – 2018 Annual Report, a document which provides an overview of council’s services, performance, governance and finances for the year.

Mayor, Cr Adrian Weston said the year has been an extremely busy one, with many achievements which support the development of our shire and wellbeing of our community.

“The report details $15.2 million in capital project spending, including significant infrastructure works to improve facilities for our community and visitors,” Cr Weston said

In alignment with the four year Council Plan, the annual report breaks down council’s performance into five key areas:

Strong and engaged communities Resilient economy Healthy environment Balanced services and infrastructure Responsible management

Each area details achievements and challenges across the year, along with a snapshot of projects for the year ahead.

“Some highlights have included signing a Memorandum of Understanding with Yorta Yorta Nation Aboriginal Corporation, adopting the Port Precinct Plan and the completion of Rochester’s Community Economic Development Plan,” Cr Weston said.

“Challenges have included the financial strain on our community due to rising energy costs, shortages of flu vaccinations and the issues associated with our region’s ageing bridges.”

“The year ahead see’s $28.6 million allocated to capital works projects including $10.9 million to roads, $3 million to bridges, $2.1 million to drainage and $1.4 million to footpaths and cycle paths.”

The report gives a detailed overview of council finances and performance, both independently audited by the Victorian Auditor-General’s Office.
