The national reuse and community initiative – now in its eight year – is offering up a trove of delightfully curious, collectable and colourful finds for shoppers across the nation.
The program is made possible by Ararat Rural City Council locally, with this year’s garage sales including:
Succulents – The Wandering Succulent Garage Sale, 10am-4pm Saturday and 1pm-4pm Sunday at 13 Banksia Street, Ararat Massive Moving Sale, 9am-2pm Saturday and Sunday at 47 Elizabeth Street, Ararat Carport Sale, 9am-1pm Saturday only at 93 George Road, Ararat Yard Sale, 9am-1pm Saturday only at 55 Albert Street, AraratWeird and wonderful aside, the Garage Sale Trail provides thousands of Australians with a chance to re-home items that may otherwise end up in landfill.
“Reusing or selling stuff you no longer want at a garage sale is a terrific way to do your bit for the environment and a great way to meet the neighbours too,” Ararat Rural City Council Mayor, Cr Gwenda Allgood said.
“We're really pleased to be involved in this grass roots event. It is something that is growing year-on-year, just like the reuse movement.
“There are plenty of remarkable items hiding in people’s sheds, spare rooms or garages across our region which makes the Garage Sale Trail a great little event. I encourage everyone to get out there and explore.”
Shoppers can map out sales they’d like to visit over the weekend for free by searching the map and creating a trail at www.garagesaletrail.com.au
