Cattle were drawn from a wide supply area, with a large portion from western Queensland once again. The usual panel of buyers were present and operating.

Recent sporadic rainfall over the supply area saw prices improve across the board for quality lines of cattle.

Light weight yearling steers improved by up to 36c/kg. Medium weight yearling steers to feed improved 20c to 26c, while heavy weight yearling steers to feed increased by 18c/kg. Yearling heifers also experienced price increases, with a good sample of light weights to restockers improving by 25c/kg. Grown steers and heifers were in limited supply and saw little change. A smaller sample of cows was yarded, with medium weight cows improving 13c, as heavy weights increased 11c/kg. A fair sample of light weight yearling steers sold to 340.2c to average 321c, while a good sample of light weight yearling steers to restockers sold to 326.2c to average 315c/kg. Medium weight yearling steers to feed sold to 316.2c to average 307c, while the heavy weights sold to 309.2c to average 305c/kg.

A good sample of light weight yearling heifers to restockers sold to 291.2c to average 274c/kg. A small sample of yearling heifers weighing 280-330kg topped at 260.2 to average 256c/kg. Medium weight 3 score cows sold to 263.2c to average 245c, while the small sample of heavy weights made to 267.2c to average 253c/kg. The best of the light weight bulls to restockers sold to 306.2c to average 271c/kg.

Wondolin P/Co, Wondolin, Wallumbilla sold Angus cross heifers to 288c/kg, reaching a top of $838 to average $748. Ryan Bros, Carlow, Blackall sold Santa heifers to 270c/kg, reaching a top of $1,283 to average $896. The Santa cows sold to 259c/kg, reaching a top of $1,408 to average $1,243. AC & K Day, Jaccondoll, Barcaldine sold Droughtmaster cross heifers to 256c/kg, reaching a top of $456 to average $456.

Cows in the 300-400kg range reached 261c/kg and averaged 186c/kg, while cows in the 400kg-500kg range reached 263c/kg and averaged 228c/kg. Cows over 500kg topped at 267c/kg, averaging 243c/kg.

Smithco Management Pty Ltd, Innisfallen, Morven sold Brahman cross cows to 267c/kg, reaching a top of $1,531 to average $1,414. Elliott Cattle Co, Enryb, Corfield sold Charbray cross cows to 247c/kg, reaching a top of $1,148 to average $962.
