Whitsunday Regional Libraries have joined the movie streaming revolution with the on-demand streaming video platform, Kanopy, now available to the community.
Mayor Andrew Willcox said Kanopy offers access to a large range of movies, from popular titles, Australian movies, classics, documentaries and short films, to pop culture.
“Kanopy is free for all residents who are members of the library and can be streamed anywhere, anytime,” Mayor Willcox said.
“Anyone who is not a library member can easily join and get access to Kanopy and many other fantastic services our libraries offer.”
Kanopy can be streamed from PC, television, mobile device or by downloading the app for iOS, Android, AppleTV or Chromecast.
To get started, visit http://whitsundayrc.kanopy.com. and check out the wide variety of movies available with your library card.
Kanopy showcases more than 30,000 of the world’s best films difficult to access anywhere else.
With the slogan ‘thoughtful entertainment’, the streaming service provides access to movies of unique social and cultural value and host a varied selection of foreign language films including films on race and current affairs.
Mayor Willcox will officially launch Kanopy at the Proserpine Library on Tuesday, 23 October at 3.30pm.
