East Gippsland Shire Council’s Lakes Entrance Aquadome and Lakes Entrance Customer Service Centre will host events during National Children’s Week.
Council is supporting the annual celebration, this year being held from October 19-28, giving children and their families an opportunity to get involved in a variety of activities,
Council’s free Lakes Entrance events include:
Mighty Kids Program – a 30-minuite program encouraging children whatever their ability. Date: Monday, October 22. Venue: Lakes Entrance Aquadome. Time: 4-4.30pm. Ages: 4-12 years. Storytime with Dorothy the Dinosaur – a special Storytime including songs, activities and a visit from Dorothy the Dinosaur. Date: Monday, October 22. Venue: Lakes Entrance Customer Service Centre. Time: 11am-12pm. Ages: 0-5 years. Garden Craft Activity Session – listen to stories, play games, win prizes and make a craft for your garden at this after school session. Date: Monday, October 22. Venue: Lakes Entrance Customer Service Centre. Time: 3.45-4.45pm. Ages: 5-12 years. Storytime – sessions are held weekly at all East Gippsland Shire libraries and run for about 45 minutes. Sessions include 3-6 stories, songs, dancing, rhymes and craft activities. Date: Tuesday, October 23. Venue: Lakes Entrance Customer Service Centre. Time: 11am-12pm. Ages: 2-5 years. Rhymetime – sessions last for about 30 minutes in which parents will learn rhymes, actions and activities to assist in their child’s literacy development. Date: Wednesday, October 24. Venue: Lakes Entrance Customer Service Centre. Time: 10.30-11am. Ages: 0-2 years. Mighty Tots Program – a 30-minute program encouraging all children to have a go at fun games and fitness activities. Date: Wednesday, October 24. Venue: Lakes Entrance Aquadome. Time: 10.30am. Ages: 2-5 years. Creche Open Day Morning Tea – come and look at the creche facilities and have morning tea with staff and let the children play. Date: Wednesday, October 24. Venue: Lakes Entrance Aquadome. Time: 11am. Ages: 0-5 years. Aqua Run – large pool inflatables and barbecue. All-age event (children under five will need to be accompanied by a responsible person over 16. Date: Sunday, October 28. Venue: Lakes Entrance Aquadome. Time: 11am. Ages: 0-5 years.This year’s Children’s Week theme is based on the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child: Article 12. Children have the right to say what they think should happen and have their opinions taken into account.
A number of organisations, community groups and businesses are holding events and activities across East Gippsland to celebrate Children's Week and residents are encouraged to get involved and join in the celebrations.
