Australians who served during World War 1 are being remembered in a new exhibition at the Wanneroo Library and Cultural Centre.

At the time of committing to the war cause, Australia had a population of less than five million; 416,809 men enlisted, of whom more than 60,000 were killed and 156,000 wounded, gassed or taken prisoner.

Some 23 members of the Wanneroo community served in what was known at the time as the ‘War to End All Wars’.

In the 100 anniversary year of the end of the global conflict, their stories are told in the exhibition, Wanneroo Remembers: The Centenary of Armistice.
