Children of Benalla Rural City – it’s time to unleash your imagination to celebrate Children’s Week (19–28 October 2018).

The Council is holding a Children’s Week competition which encourages children to complete a creative project, such as a drawing, poem, collage or comic strip, to demonstrate what family means to them.

Acting Mayor, Cr Peter Davis, said that Children’s Week is important to celebrate and encourage children.

“The children of our Rural City are the future of our communities. This Children’s Week activity is a fantastic opportunity to put the focus on children, their needs and their achievements,” said Cr Davis.

The theme of this year’s national event is ‘Children’s views and opinions are respected. They have the right to express those views freely in all matters affecting the child and the right to be heard.’

Prizes include art packs worth $150 and $70 BPACC Cinema vouchers and will be awarded across three age groups:

4–6 years 7–9 years 10–12 years

Entries are to be submitted to Benalla Community Care Ray Sweeney Centre at 45 Coster Street, Benalla by Monday 29 October 2018.

Competition flyers have been distributed to all local kindergartens and primary schools. Flyers can also be found at Benalla Community Care and at the Council’s Customer Service Centre.

Prizes will be drawn on Monday 5 November. Winning entries will be on display at the Council’s Customer Service Centre from 5–9 November 2018.

This Children’s Week event is presented by Benalla Rural City Council in partnership with the Department of Education and Training.
