A giant marquee in QEII Square will team with the Albury Entertainment Centre as the venue for the conference, which has attracted visitors from councils across NSW.
Among the high-profile visitors will be Premier Gladys Berejiklian and “The Last Man Standing”, 2002 Olympic gold medallist Steven Bradbury, while War on Waste’s Craig Reucassel will be a keynote speaker with an address titled Waste: Crisis or Opportunity?
The conference will begin with an opening ceremony at Noreuil Park on Sunday evening, with an address from the Premier.
AlburyCity Mayor Kevin Mack said the event was a great chance to show off Albury-Wodonga to visitors from across the state.
“We believe Albury is the jewel in the crown of southern NSW and we’re very much looking forward to showing visitors everything that’s great about our city in what’s expected to be glorious spring weather,” he said.
“It’s also set to be a shot in the arm for local businesses with many of the delegates expected to enjoy our great restaurants, hotels and other services.”
The conference will tackle issues affecting local communities, with delegates to vote on a wide range of topics.
Other highlights will include a major trade exhibition and the presentation of significant awards to top-performing councils.
The conference will wind up with sessions on the future of “smart communities” and a Q&A session on Tuesday afternoon.
