Liverpool Neighbourhood Connections can provide even more support for local people in need thanks to $46,000 raised at the Liverpool City Council Charity Ball.
Liverpool Mayor Wendy Waller proudly presented a cheque for $46,000 to the Warwick Farm-based organisation on Friday.
“I’m delighted that sponsors, partners and guests to the fifth-annual Liverpool City Council Charity Ball dug deep to assist us in raising $46,000 for Liverpool Neighbourhood Connections,” Mayor Waller said.
“On behalf of Councillors and staff, I would like to extend a thank you to everyone who contributed to the event’s success. It means a lot to Council that our community is full of generous individuals and businesses who are willing to support those who require a helping hand.”
Liverpool Neighbourhood Connections CEO Pat Hall said she was honoured to receive the cheque on behalf of the organisation and its program participants.
“We are delighted and humbled by the generosity of Liverpool City Council, Charity Ball sponsors and the many people who attended or donated,” Ms Hall said.
“The funds will go towards a new vehicle for transporting people to workshops and excursions, greatly assisting us to break the cycle of generational unemployment and help refugees and new migrants to gain work skills.”
Mayor Wendy Waller said the cheque presentation reflected well on the organisation’s many community touch points.
“Dozens of women and their children, who continue to benefit from Liverpool Neighbourhood Connections’ wealth of skill-building and education programs, came along to celebrate the Charity Ball fundraising success,” Mayor Waller said.
“Many overseas-born program participants wore traditional clothing, showing the organisation’s outstanding impact on people from all walks of life, while catering was provided by Pepper’s Place, one of their social enterprises that provides employment to program graduates.
“Council will now turn our attention to next year’s Charity Ball. I encourage Liverpool-based organisations to submit an Expression of Interest to become the fundraising recipient in 2019.”
Interested organisations need to visit www.liverpool.nsw.gov.au/charityballeoi and complete the Charity Ball fundraising Expression of Interest form by 11.59pm, Sunday 6 January 2019.
The fifth-annual Charity Ball was held on 22 September at The William Inglis Hotel and featured Cuban-inspired entertainment for more than 300 guests to enjoy.
