Council staff are working in partnership with communities and key agencies to create five-year district level Community Plans for 2019-24.
Council’s Director Community Strategy Kate Nelson said the One Place One Plan project is a different way of working together to plan and make decisions as a district and is being trialed utilising funding from the Australian Government, Department of Infrastructure and Regional Development Building Better Regions Fund Community Investment Stream.
“Twin Rivers and Mountain Rivers (Errinundra to Snowy) districts have existing community plans, which are being reviewed and will be built on through the One Place One Plan project. For the Cann River District it will be the first district plan for this area,” Ms Nelson said.
“Council has been working with the three districts to understand how the communities work, live, play and connect. The first phase was undertaken in August during well-attended asset mapping workshops, which identified the environmental, built, cultural, social, human and economic assets of the districts. The next phase will be a survey of residents and landowners in each district.
“Members of the community are invited to come together for the next workshops to tell us what we have missed; what else needs to be included; and what questions we need to ask in the community survey being released in November.”
