Councillor Column - Mural brings splash of colour to Noranda
City of Bayswater 22 Oct 2018

A previously empty wall outside Hawaiian's Noranda is now home to a 60 metre artwork featuring brightly coloured banksias thanks to a partnership between the City and Hawaiian. Visible from McGilvray Avenue, the new mural by talented artist Leanne Bray will be enjoyed by hundreds of shoppers and passers-by each day.

As a newly elected north ward Councillor, it's encouraging to see more art and events popping up in Noranda. The community have told us that attracting more activity to the town centre is important to them, and this project aims to do exactly that. Public art has been known to encourage people to spend more time in public places and contributes to a sense of identity and pride.

This is just one of many exciting projects coming to Noranda. Next up is a Long Table Picnic Lunch on 27 October organised by town team Noranda Vibes, and early next year we're looking forward to hosting an outdoor movie at Robert Thompson Reserve. Keep an eye on the City's Facebook page for details.
