Jobs, growth at Nexus

Premier Gladys Berejiklian and the Member for Albury, Greg Aplin, have announced funding of $9.9M to supply gas articulation to the hub and develop the southern ramps connecting Davey Road to the Hume Highway.

AlburyCity Mayor Kevin Mack said the improved access and energy supply would open the way for the centre at Ettamogah to develop into a round-the-clock industrial hub that will help to create hundreds of jobs.

“This support from the NSW Government is a massive boost to our long-term work to develop Nexus into a national and international operation that will enable more businesses to invest in our region, creating jobs and growth that will benefit the entire community,” he said.

“It’s set to ensure we achieve our aim of making Nexus a powerhouse of the southern NSW economy, harnessing all the benefits of our competitive location within the Sydney-Melbourne-Adelaide logistics triangle.”

There has been strong interest in the site from potential tenants and the certainty of gas and freeway access will open the way for those investors to purchase sites at the complex.

Lots are now selling in stage one of the Nexus sub-division, offering opportunities to develop large scale and heavy industry in a specialised location at the heart of national freight routes.

The 450-ha site is suitable for 24/7 operations which can service 75 per cent of the national population by next-day delivery.

The latest funding package – delivered under the Growing Local Economies Fund - brings the NSW Government’s total investment in the precinct to almost $19M, following previous investments in rail and road upgrades.
