Education excellence, closer than you think

The Moree Plains community is invited to attend the launch of the Moree Secondary Parents and Citizens’ (P&C) Association’s new promotional video showcasing Moree’s own local high school as a place of educational excellence at 5pm, Tuesday 30 October 2018 at the Albert Street Campus.

Moree Plains Shire Council, through its financial assistance program contributed $3000 to assist with the school with a communication strategy to help change local perceptions and increase awareness of the high quality of school education available in Moree.

Mayor Cr Katrina Humphries congratulated the Moree Secondary P&C for tackling community perceptions and attitudes towards educating children at local schools.

“I am very proud of the P&C members who explored parental attitudes and community perceptions to order to develop a plan to change the current status of so many local children been educated outside of Moree.”

“The Moree Secondary College promotional video showcases that educational excellence is right here on our doorstep with state-of-the-art educational facilities and a supportive and academic-driven environment that allows local children to be educated in their home town,” said the Mayor.

P&C President Kelly James explained the video was produced locally by RabbitHop Films and freelance journalist Georgie Poole interviewing local and past students about their educational experiences.

“It was important to the P&C to foster a sense of achievement amongst students, parents and teachers and as a result, we invite the community to share the video through social media platforms and challenge parents to rethink their educational options for their children.

“The video demonstrates that Moree Secondary College has quality resources and a team of dedicated teaching staff who are interested in building a better future for local students who want to further their academic experiences,” said Mrs James.
