A special family day will be held at the Ballarat Wildlife Park this Saturday 27 October to celebrate Children’s Week 2018. 

The event, in partnership with the Ballarat and District Aboriginal Co-Operative (BADAC), features a chance to get up close to some of Australia’s magnificent native animals as well as juggling, tricks and balloon animal creations from ‘Squeak the Clown’ and free face-painting. 

BADAC will provide traditional games, art and craft activities, and will showcase a range of artefacts and host boomerang-making for children. With subsidised entry of $22.50 for adults and $14.30 for children at the gate*, the event will be held from 10.30am-12.30pm. 

An annual event celebrated each October, Children’s Week 2018 was launched on Friday 19 October and runs until Sunday, 28 October. It celebrates the theme Children’s views and opinions are respected. 

Families can make the most of the huge range of activities taking place this week, including: 

Children’s author Michael Panckridge at Ballarat Library on Friday 26 October, with sessions at 11am and 1pm   Lots of fun activities at Ballarat Aquatic and Lifestyle Centre, such as gymnastics, rock climbing, aquatic education and the pool inflatable     Bread-making, pop-up playgroup, kite-making, a birds of prey show, teddy bears’ picnic, children’s sustainability workshop, BotaniKids nature-based activities and lots more!   

The City of Ballarat’s online event calendar provides families with a user-friendly one-stop-shop to access essential information on the wide range of free and low-cost activities being held throughout the municipality for Children’s Week 2018.  

Children’s Week is a national initiative that recognises and celebrates the important role children play in our communities, and the talents, skills, achievements, and rights of all children to enjoy childhood. 

Please note: Subsidised entry at the Ballarat Wildlife Park on Saturday 27 October is not for online bookings and is only available at the gate.
