The countdown is on for you to nominate an individual or community group who have made a positive contribution, made a difference to your local community or our great Region.
Australia Day Award Nominations close October 31. It is easy to do and does not take long at all to put in a nomination.
Toowoomba Regional Council (TRC) Australia Day Committee Chair Cr. Mike Williams said “There are many unsung heroes, achievers and givers in our community that go that extra mile, their efforts making a valuable contribution to ur community”.
‘The true value of these special people and groups in our community and their contributions are often overlooked or not seen by all. They are often the quiet achievers.
“It is time to thank and recognise these individuals and groups for their hard work, contributions they have made to our community and recognise them for their achievements” Cr. Williams said.
“If you do know a person or group that deserves to be recognised for their efforts don’t miss this opportunity to nominate them” Cr. Williams said.
Australia Day means different things to every individual, but it is a time to think about our past, our rich traditions and how we have grown and evolved.
It represents an occasion to come together and reflect on what being an Australian really means to you.
Cr. Williams said “Whether you are a ‘True Blue Aussie’ or a new “Aussie” from one of the many multicultural backgrounds, that make up the tapestry of our Region, we all have one thing in common, ‘we are all proud to call Australia’ our home”.
There are two award levels – local and regional. Local Australia Day committees select each local award category winner. Nominations can be forwarded onto the Regional Australia Day committee to also be considered for an award.
