MEDIA RELEASE 25 October 2018
Penrith Panthers will take on Melbourne Storm in Bathurst at Carrington Park in Bathurst on Saturday, 30 March 2019.
Mayor Graeme Hanger said he looked forward our city hosting to another action-packed NRL clash.
“The event builds on our city’s strong reputation as a destination for major sporting events and Council has played a key role in investing in the sporting facilities to ensure they attract premium events such as the NRL” he said.
“This is the sixth year the Panthers game is hosted in Bathurst. Last year we signed a new ten-year agreement with Penrith Panthers to play an NRL match in Bathurst until at least 2028. This agreement continues a partnership that began in 2014 an has already seen the Panthers play three NRL fixtures at Carrington Park.”
Each year the Panthers team conducts a range of community engagement activities such as the coaching clinics, which are great for the development grassroots rugby league in regional areas. The social benefits from these activities contribute strongly to an inclusive sporting community.
Another benefit is the economic impact of holding the NRL game in Bathurst. In one year it is estimated to have created 6 FTE jobs and $340,000 in household income plus generating an additional $710,000 to the Bathurst economy.
Tickets for the match will be available in mid December at www.bathurstnrl.com.au
