City gets creative for 100 years of Remembrance Day

The City of Bayswater’s Maylands Library will begin Remembrance Day commemorations early this year with a Red Poppies for Remembrance Day workshop on Saturday 10 November.
Open to all ages, the free workshop will allow members of the community to craft their own red poppy pins or badges under the guidance of local artist Geraldine Pillinger.
City of Bayswater Mayor Dan Bull said the workshop is creating a space for local people to actively take part in this particularly special Remembrance Day.
“November 11 of this year marks the 100th anniversary of the Armistice which ended the First World War.
"Each year, Remembrance Day is an opportunity for our whole community to pay their respects to those who have made the ultimate sacrifice to protect the freedoms we often take for granted.
"This workshop provides community members with an opportunity to acknowledge this important day in a tangible way.
“Our libraries are a rich source of information and I would encourage community members to feel free to browse the huge array of books, magazines and digital resources available.
