Ballarat’s Lake Wendouree is set to get lighting no matter who wins the State election next month, with both major parties promising to fund the project.
City of Ballarat welcomes the announcement by the State Government that it will commit $2.5million toward lights at Lake Wendouree and Victoria Park if re-elected.
In July this year the State Opposition announced that it would spend $1.7million to fund the Lake Wendouree lighting project if elected in the 24 November poll.
City of Ballarat has also welcomed the news that the State Government has committed $200,000 in funding for exercise stations around the Lake.
Both projects are key elements of City of Ballarat’s lake Wendouree Master Plan, with the lighting project being particularly popular with lake users.
City of Ballarat Mayor, Cr Samantha McIntosh says the Lake Wendouree lighting project has long been a priority for Council and the broader community.
“Delivery of this key project will ensure Lake Wendouree continues to be Ballarat’s most popular and well-used community space. Lighting will extend the hours the lake can be safely used, especially during winter”.
