Construction towards the long-awaited Central Queensland Inland Port project at Yamala will be underway next week with crews ready to begin road upgrades two months after the official sod turn.
Central Highlands Regional Council Mayor Kerry Hayes said it is a step ahead for the region.
‘Works to widen and seal Bonnie Doon Road will start from the CQ Inland Port entrance and continue towards the intersection with the Capricorn Highway,’ he said.
‘There will be changed traffic conditions and traffic control on Bonnie Doon Road while works are underway until the end of January.
‘While works will not affect the Capricorn Highway at this stage, I urge drivers to be aware of an increased number of trucks turning in and out of Bonnie Doon Road.’
The works are funded in partnership with the Queensland Government’s $4.4 million Building our Regions contribution and industry partners GrainCorp and CQ Inland Port. The project attracted $2.9 million in federal funding earlier in 2018 and is the Central Highlands’ flagship infrastructure development project in size and co-contribution.
