Funding Secured for New Soccer Lights at Drouin and Trafalgar

Bellbird Park and Trafalgar Recreation Reserve are set to receive new sports lighting towers thanks to a $250,000 funding boost from the Victorian Government.

Drouin Dragons Soccer Club will see new lights installed at both junior and senior pitches at Bellbird Park and Trafalgar Victory Soccer Club will see the final two light towers installed on the second pitch at Trafalgar Recreation Reserve.

The announcement was made by Member for Eastern Victoria Harriet Shing MP at the official opening for the Drouin Cricket Net Complex at Bellbird Park yesterday afternoon.

The $500,000 project is being equally funded by Baw Baw Shire Council and the funding from Sport and Recreation Victoria through the 2018/19 The World Game Facilities Fund.

The project is planned for delivery in the second half of 2019.

“We welcome news of the funding that will soon boost safety, participation and player satisfaction at Drouin and Trafalgar clubs.”

“This funding will help Council deliver better sporting facilities for our local clubs and we thank the Victorian Government for their continued support and investment into grassroots sporting infrastructure.”

“Having pitch lights on both fields at Bellbird Park provides an opportunity to host evening games which is a real boost for the club.”

“With extra lights, the club can also utilise both pitches for training which will help cater for and future proof the continuing growth of the club. Most importantly, the better visibility means a safer ground for players.”

“The additional lights at the Trafalgar Recreation Reserve will greatly improve both training and game day capacity and provide the club with much greater flexibility in terms of pitch maintenance.”
