With the state of men’s health in crisis, Movember focuses on men’s health in a bid to reduce the number of men dying needlessly each year.

Movember aims to raise awareness of men’s health issues. Since Movember first started in Australia in 2003, the foundation has grown to fund more than 1,200 men’s health initiatives across 21 countries.

Lithgow Library will be hosting an informal speaker session with guest speakers who will cover men’s health, local resources and services for men. Speakers include Dr John Dearin discussing men’s health; Terry Tonkin from the Lithgow Men’s Shed; and Tim from Tough Grind Barbers. The session will be followed by a light lunch. Lithgow’s ukulele group, The Leles, will also perform.

“This is a great opportunity for men to reach out and find out more about local services and opportunities. It is important to shine a light on issues that previously have been brushed aside and kept in the dark, ” said Mayor Ray Thompson.

The Movember information morning will be held at Lithgow Library on Tuesday 6 November at 10.00am. Please RSVP for catering purposes. For more information about this free event please call Lithgow Library on 6352 9100.
