Drive on dock Amongst the upgrades is a drive-on-dock for for the newly launched marina boat.
Installed on Thursday 25 October, the 6x3m dock provides a safe and effective on-water berth for the marina boat.
“The dock allows the boat to be deployed in a matter of minutes in the event of an emergency or time critical situation,” said Samantha Standish, the City of Cockburn’s Marina Manager.
“This will allow us to be more responsive and ensure greater safety for our pen holders, day visitors to the Port Coogee marina and canal boat owners.”
The $9,000 dock was installed by DockPro PTY LTD.
Fuel Facility A new fuel facility is also set to be completed early November, allowing local and visiting vessels to fuel up at Port Coogee, rather than travelling all the way to Fremantle.
The new $490k facility will provide far greater convenience to boat owners in the Marina and in the Cockburn Sound area.
“Visitors and Marina penholders will be able to fuel their boats with Diesel or Premium Unleaded fuel at the Marina, seven days per week,” said Ms Standish.
To utilise the system, boat owners will need to have an account with Baileys Marine Fuels, who will be operating the facility. The system will not accept cash or credit card fuel purchases.
Works on the facility are being completed by Nqpetro WA, who was commissioned by the City through a tendering process.
Pontoons The yellow Coogee Beach Swimming Pontoon is also being refurbished, with works planned to be complete by the summer season.
The upgrades will include new decking, a slide and a swim-up marlin board. The handrails on the Shark Barrier pontoon have also been upgraded to make access in and out of the water safer.
