The project is being constructed by the Metropolitan Road Improvement Alliance (MRIA), on behalf of Main Roads. It is intended to reduce congestion, provide better access to Fiona Stanley Hospital and help the Murdoch Activity Centre (MAC) meet its economic potential as a major employment and research centre.
The project is scheduled for completion in late 2019.
Key upcoming activities include:
Bridge from Roe Highway westbound over Kwinana Freeway Concrete for bridge footings were was poured this week. Bridge beams are scheduled for installation in January 2019, with some night time detours required for the safety or road users our workforce.
Principal Shared Path detours A detour of cyclists off the Principal Shared Path commenced last week and will continue until December 2018. A road safety audit was conducted last Tuesday when the detour commenced, and next week further observations will be conducted when schools recommence.
The Metropolitan Road Improvement Alliance has worked with a range of stakeholders over recent months to determine detour routes for Principal Shared Path users, and the safety of road and path users and our workforce is our highest priority.
Baker Court to Kwinana Freeway – shared path and main road alignment Clearing, pavement work and construction of noise wall footings continues in area west of the Kwinana Freeway – works will be ongoing over the coming months.
Farrington Road and Murdoch Drive intersection Western Power will be continuing their relocation works of overhead power lines in the ‘Murdoch Triangle’ area – the north-west corner of Farrington Road and Murdoch Drive intersection. MRIA will also be working in the area, commencing tying steel on the southern abutment for the bridge over Farrington Road.
Standard hours of construction are 7am-7pm, Monday to Saturday.
