We’re spending $12,000 to refurbish the pontoons and want to get your thoughts on their location for the summer months.
We plan to locate a refurbished pontoon with a new deck and swim-up access platform near Coogee beach Surf Life Saving Club.
Another two with slides would be anchored inside the Eco Shark Barrier and next to Coogee Beach jetty.
The pontoons are currently housed in a boatyard at Woodman Point are we can’t wait to tow them into place.
Swimming pontoons have been a City-provided feature at Coogee Beach since about 2004. In 2016, a third pontoon was added to the “fleet” following the popularity of the Eco Shark Barrier swimming area.
This summer, you will see that the pontoon in the Eco Shark Barrier will have improvements and extensions made to its hand rails to enable easier and safer climbing up from the water. This is in response to community feedback last summer.
Tell us your thoughts on these plans in a survey by 4pm, Thursday, 18 October at Comment on Cockburn here.
