A new strategy aiming to help Eurobodalla become known as the “creative gateway to the south-east” is currently on public exhibition.
Eurobodalla Council is seeking feedback on its Creative Arts Strategy, which provides a framework for creative arts development in the shire.
It includes 47 prioritised actions over four outcome areas – places and spaces, connections and collaboration, capacity in achieving and participation and access.
The actions range from establishing purpose-built arts infrastructure, such as Moruya’s Basil Sellers Exhibition Centre and the new arts centre at Mackay Park, Batemans Bay, to integrating art into civic life, engaging partnerships and networks, and growing and celebrating creative industries and skilled practitioners.
Eurobodalla Mayor Liz Innes said the strategy was exciting for the future direction of the shire.
“We really want to embrace the incredible things happening in our community in the creative arts space and to see our creative industries thrive,” she said.
“There are more than 600 creative arts events throughout Eurobodalla each year, from large-scale music, arts and writing festivals to theatre performances and concerts, art prizes and exhibitions.
“These all contribute to making Eurobodalla such a great place to live and also contribute to our local economy.
“I’m absolutely delighted to see this strategy go out on public exhibition and I’m really interested to know what our community thinks.”
Council will be seeking feedback on the draft strategy at information sessions in Batemans Bay, Moruya and Narooma during the exhibition period – keep an eye on Council’s website or details.
It can be viewed at our Public Exhibition page and in hard copy at the Batemans Bay, Moruya and Narooma libraries, and the Moruya customer service centre, until submissions close on Monday 26 November 2018.
Submissions can be posted to Eurobodalla Shire Council, PO Box 99 Moruya NSW 2537, emailed to [email protected] or submitted using Council’s online feedback form.
