Not-for-profit organisations in the region are being invited to apply for grants of up to $5,000 as part of Council’s Community Grants Program. Round 2 for the 2018/2019 financial year is now open for projects, events or services occurring between January – June 2019.

Cr Graham Lohmann said the grants provide much-needed assistance to community groups. “In Round 1 of this year, Council provided Community Grants to 19 not-for-profit organisations located and operating within the Region.

“These grants provide monetary and/or in-kind support to assist groups purchase equipment, upgrade facilities or reduce costs associated with running their events.

“By providing these grants, Council is able to achieve our longer-term goals of support and social well-being for our community.” said Cr Lohmann.

The last round of recipients included Greenvale & District Senior Citizens Club Inc, Charters Towers High P&C Association, Charters Towers Motorcycle Club Inc, Towers Jockey Club Inc, Prospect Community Services and Ngrragoonda Aboriginal Corp RNTBC.

Funding can be used towards activities, services or programs relating to the arts, recreation, sports and other community related initiatives. Applications that demonstrate the greatest benefit to the Region will be considered favourably.

Local, not-for-profit organisations that are seeking funding have until Friday, 30 November 2018 to submit an application.
