Shire seeks feedback from landholders on biosecurity issues
Balonne Shire Council 30 Oct 2018

Balonne Shire Council will host five workshops in November with landholders to discuss biosecurity priorities and issues.

Mayor Richard Marsh said that under State legislation all Councils must have a biosecurity plan, and all land holders had a duty, to protect against the entry and spread of pests and diseases.

“It is vital Council puts in place strategies to protect our producers from invasive pests and plants as agriculture is a primary pillar of the Shire’s economy,” he said.

“This plan will also include the provision of Council’s five-year plan for wild dogs.

“I would urge all landholders to attend one of the five workshops and provide us with any useful information and input such as priority pests, strategies, effective control methods, and their current efforts.”
