Mayor’s message - Exciting times ahead

What an incredibly exciting time to live in Eurobodalla.

We’re seeing more money invested in our beautiful shire than ever before - funding for projects that boost our economy, provide jobs for our youth, cater to the diverse needs of our community and help to make Eurobodalla an even better place to live and visit.

This month Gilmore MP Ann Sudmalis announced that our grant application for $25 million to build the new aquatic and arts centre at Batemans Bay had progressed.

If we’re successful in the next stage it means Batemans Bay residents and visitors could be swimming in a new indoor aquatic centre – or enjoying a show in its theatre – in less than three years.

It’s beyond exciting - but there’s more. We’re also seeing a shellfish hatchery development at Moruya to safeguard our local aquaculture industry.

Our infrastructure is being improved at Moruya Airport to encourage more people to do business in our shire.

There’s the state-of-the-art Basil Sellers Exhibition Centre under construction at Moruya, a major redevelopment of the Botanic Garden visitor centre and multi-million dollar investments in our roads.

All these projects – and more – are funded thanks to our state and federal governments, without which we might not have been able to provide such incredible infrastructure.

It’s a huge vote of confidence in Council’s ability to deliver these major projects for our community.

And it’s a pleasure to work hand-in-hand with our state and federal governments to provide these extraordinary opportunities for our shire.

This is about helping our brothers and sisters in need. They’ve been doing it tough for a very long time, and will continue to do it tough even after drought-breaking rain.
