Wollongong Conservatorium of Music Clarinet Ensemble – Ilaria Ramirez, Claudia Gill, Chelsey-Rae Hall, Patrick Sirianni and Tilly Rood — playing at Thirroul District Library on Saturday 3 November from 11am.

Five clarinettists from the Wollongong Conservatorium of Music will feature in Music in the Library on 3 November.

Bands and musicians have been playing in Thirroul District Library [under the big fig tree] since January 2017.

“This is one of the best secrets in Thirroul,” said Jenny Thompson, Manager Library and Community Services. “We have some of the best young musicians play in the reading area. It’s always a joy to see these players perform and it’s delightful to see library customers enjoy music as part of their visit on a Saturday.

“We began the Music program as part of the Summer in the Library for 2017 and it was so successful we decided to continue the program.”

On Saturday 3 November, the Clarinet Ensemble will play a selection from Mozart through to movie themes, like Pirates of the Caribbean. This small, unique like-instrument ensemble perform regularly at music concerts at the Wollongong Conservatorium of Music next to the Botanic Garden, Viva la Gong and received commendations and awards at the Wollongong Eisteddfod for their unique sound.

This ensemble started as two clarinet players and soon grew into a trio before expanding to a quartet of clarinets in late 2017.  The addition of a bass clarinet in early 2018 completes the ensemble, now a quintet.

The players are Tilly Rood, Claudia Gill, Ilaria Ramirez [on B flat clarinets], Chelsey-Rae Hall [bass clarinet] and Patrick Sirianni [E flat soprano clarinet].
