Council is putting the call out to local community organisations to take part in the 2018 Community Organisation Census.

Community Development Councillor Jan Kelly said the census has been designed to create an up-to-date database of local community organisations.

“The data collected through the census will assist to inform Council of the needs of community organisations, participation and volunteer trends across the Shire,” Cr Kelly said.

“The information supplied by community organisations will also provide direction and support for a range of future programmes, planning activities and funding applications.”

Using Council’s new online engagement platform, Get Involved, Council is seeking information from all not-for-profit community organisations that are based within the Shire and provide services and/or activities to benefit residents and improve the overall liveability of the Shire.

“Community groups and organisations are a vital part of the social fabric of any community. We are very fortunate in Livingstone to have so many wonderful community groups, volunteers and individuals who work so hard for the betterment of our community across a diverse range of agencies and services,” Cr Kelly said.

“It’s important as a Council, that we monitor each group’s individual growth as well as gauge what’s important to allow their operations to continue in our region.

“I strongly encourage all relevant community organisations to take a few moments to complete the census, it’s simple and easy to follow and will provide Council with a great source of important information.”
